Let’s start by saying… HAPPY CANADA DAY 150!
Today also kicks off our first ‘Saturday Splurge’. We thought it was the perfect day to do it since you’re probably off to a party or maybe just hanging out with friends. Whatever you’re up to, there are probably indulgent snacks flying around and maybe a beverage (or two).
Since you consider yourself to be a fit girl, you might be thinking that you can’t enjoy yourself like the rest, right? Don’t think so. Our ‘Fitness MO’ does not involve restricting ourselves. Like you’ve probably heard time and time again, it’s all about balance. Yes, the majority of the time we lead a very healthy lifestyle, but there are just some times in our lives were duty (or donut) calls.
We’re calling this series ‘Saturday Splurge’ but some may call it their ‘Cheat Day’. That’s cool, but don’t let the work *cheat* make you feel guilty. Some may say they don’t like to refer to drifting off their diet as a ‘cheat day’, but let’s face it, we’re basic girls who typically say sh*t we don’t mean. Call it whatever you want, just don’t ever feel guilty. If a super sugary, over-the-top milkshake is speaking to your soul one day, don’t think twice—just drink the damn thing!
Be mindful about your decisions. Give into your cravings and then scale back to stay on track. Say it with us, BALANCE. Drifting off for a second doesn’t mean you failed or that your fitness goals are ruined forever. As long as you don’t over do it, it’s like it never happened! At the end of the day, we’re human and life is too short to miss out on the fun stuff.
Okay, enough of that… our recommended treat of choice for you on this very proud day is the O’ Canada Red Velvet milkshake from Toronto’s very own, Peace Treats. One, it’s delicious. Two, it’s extra Insta-worthy.
Until next time,
M & O
