Have you ever heard of adding fats, like coconut oil and butter, to your coffee? You probably have. It seems like a weird concept but there is definitely a method behind the madness.

However, recently I learned that regular coconut oil just doesn’t cut it in the coffee. What you need is the real deal Bulletproof Brain Octane Oil.¬†This is derived from pure coconut oil, making it 100% environmentally friendly. It is a small part of coconut oil that is absorbed quickly, gives you energy, banishes cravings, and best of all, keeps you full!

Bulletproof Brain Octane Oil – $23.50

Now, Michelle and I love our morning coffee and due to the added fats, it reduces the crash that caffeine from coffee can give you, but we’re millennials, we need something more trendy. Cue, matcha. We all know what matcha is. It’s that green drink that all 20-somethings are sipping on. Matcha has been said to aid weight loss and gives you a slower release of energy, so you’re not tired by lunch.

This drink is a perfect breakfast replacement or pre-workout beverage. Believe it or not, it takes fat to burn fat, so if you’re looking to control that waist-line, you NEED this drink. Trust us, we were skeptics that it would keep us full (because we love, love, love to eat) but it really does. It even helps you power through a workout better than carbs or a strange pre-workout supplement.

Instead of making our coffee Bulletproof, I’m making matcha Bulletproof instead. Here’s what you need!

  • 1/2 tsp matcha powder
  • 1 cup boiled water
  • 1 tsp – 1 tbsp Brain Octane Oil (work up to 1 tbsp over a few days to avoid stomach upset)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup non-dairy milk
  • 1 tbsp grass-fed butter (optional; we still try to avoid dairy)
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (if drinking post-workout)¬†

Blend (not stir) all of that together and you’ve got the perfect breakfast! Hope you enjoy your dose of #MondayMorningMatcha and continue on for the rest of the week!
