Lets face it, we’re 20-something with VERY busy lives. With this, we tend to over-book our personal schedules, especially during our days of summer that just keep flying by.
Unfortunately, our crowded schedules really affect us and leave some of our day-to-day tasks to be cut short (like, really short). If you’re like me and a bit of a night owl, you might find yourself tapping that snooze button once, or twice, or even three times. And, once you wake up, you are probably consumed with a sense of pure panic and quickly try to figure out how to get your sh*t together to begin your day. Lucky for you, I’ve become a bit of an professional when it comes to leaving the house fresh faced and put together in about ten minutes.
Depending on the time you have, your outfit might have to be plucked off the floor. This might mean you’re stuck with a wrinkled blouse, but put it this way, it’s better than nothing. Your outfit, however, is only half the battle—you still have your face and hair to worry about.
Let’s talk about that ‘five-minute face’ every girl wants. It has to be quick, easy, and natural. I’m over a full face of makeup. From foundation, to shadow, and dealing with the perfect wing—makeup is officially too high-maintenance. Summer is not the time, nor the place for that look. Plus, the heat would turn us into a greasy, cakey mess with that look anyways. I’m more about the ‘five-minute face’ featuring the ‘no-makeup makeup’ look.
So, with minutes to spare and places to go, here is how you can get this easy summer look, using mostly your fingertips and just a few products!
Assuming you washed your face the night before (no judgement otherwise), a simple cleansing wipe will do the trick! Recently, we’ve been reaching for Garnier SkinActive Micellar Water. If we need a boost or are looking extra tired, Hello FAB Caffeine Matcha Wake Up Wipes are the answer. Both of these products will leave you feeling refreshed and clean enough.
Next, we go right to the primer. Try out Lock-It Hydrating Primer to give your skin a little life and prevent your makeup from fading away. If you’re of the oily type, dab on some mattifying primer on those problem areas, too.
It would be nice to blame redness on the summer heat, but unfortunate for me, it’s here to stay. If you have this same issue, this is my PSA, “ITCosmetics Bye Bye Redness™ Correcting Cream will SAVE YOUR LIFE”. I’d be lying if I pretended redness wasn’t a huge self-confidence issue, but it is. Honestly, this stuff will hide everything, flawlessly. If you don’t suffer from this issue, you can skip right over to the next step.
Let’s even out that complexion all over. The Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer is light with enough coverage, while looking natural. If you still want a little more coverage, especially in the under-eye area, try Glossier Stretch Concealer. This concealer has a dewy finish and colour corrects like you wouldn’t believe!
Grab a setting powder of your choice and dust if all over your face. Nothing fancy here, it’s just an insurance policy for your foundation. I grab bareMinerals Mineral Veil. It is a sheer and weightless powder to help set and cover up your look.
It’s time to give your face a little life. This summer I’ve chosen the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer for a two-in-one step. It leaves a nice warm glow on your face with just enough shimmer, so there’s no need for highlighter! I definitely recommend playing around with bronzers to see what works with your skin type/tone. Thanks to Kim K, I do the E-3 method to shape my face in all the right places!
If you wish, you can add a little bit of blush, too. Again, you’ll need to experiment with what works for you, but I find the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush has a nice colour pay off. Tap this on your cheeks and it will really brighten up your look!
Last by not least, mascara and brows. To make sure you’re looking bright-eyed and beautiful, shape your eyes to finish off the look. I love to use Too Faced’s Better Than Sex Waterproof mascara. It gives your lashes plenty of volume and length and will DEFINITELY not rub off. Brows are optional, but I think they make a huge difference. A brow gel is quick and easy and looks great. Obviously, the favourite is the culture beauty product, Boy Brow.
Will hopefully a minute to spare, you can grab your purse, throw on your shoes and head out the door! If you have time, make sure to pack blotting papers and lip balm to get you through the day.
