We work hard towards our fitness goals by eating clean and hitting the gym, but sometimes time is not on our side. Change doesn’t come overnight and consistency is key. However, life happens!
Although you may be well on your way, you may have an event coming up that you want to be a little extra toned for. Whether it be a vacation, a wedding, or even your birthday, being happy about how you look will help how you feel and ultimately lead to tackling your event with a better mood and more confidence.
Now, it’s not very possible, or at all healthy, to drop a lot of weight in just 5-days, but you can reduce bloat and feel more tight and toned. This takes hard work and dedication, but if you keep your end goal in sight, it makes it easier than it sounds.
1. Follow a high-fat, low-carb, and clean diet.
On any average day, we follow a pretty balanced diet of carbs, fat, and protein. However, when it comes to leaning out for an event, cutting the carbs really helps. It’s not fun, but it’s VERY effect. Foods that we recommend eating leading up to the occasion are lean proteins like eggs, fish, and chicken, healthy fats like avocados, coconut oil, and nuts (or natural nut butters), and green vegetables like brussels sprouts, asparagus, kale, spinach, and broccoli. Limit your fruit intake or keep it to dark berries if necessary. And, instead of eating 6 small meals a day, eat 3 larger ones. With all of this in mind, make sure you are at least eating 1200-1500 calories each day. Any less would be considered starving yourself and ultimately destroys your metabolism. You don’t want to gain weight post-slim down.
2. Do more cardio workouts.
Ahh, the dreaded cardio. To the best of your ability, work two 30-minutes cardio sessions into each day. If that doesn’t work with your schedule, one 60-minute session is just as good. The reason why we recommend splitting it up is because increasing your heart rate multiple times a day keeps your body in a constant start of burning calories. Think of it as interval training all day long. You cardio can be running, biking, swimming or walking, just make sure it’s intense and gets you SWEATY. Within your 5-days of 60-minutes of cardio, do a toning workout on top of it every other day. For example, do abs and arms on Monday, butt and legs on Wednesday, and total body on Friday. It’s an intense week of workouts, but trust us, it’s worth it!
3. Practice intermittent fasting.
Intermittent fasting is really trendy right now, but for good reason. Fasting for a longer period of time than you are eating turns whatever you ate into energy, rather than storing it as fat. Pick a 6-8 hour window during the day to eat your meals. If you find yourself more ‘snacky’ at night, maybe you will want to start your meals later in the day, but don’t eat too close to sleeping. The key to this is also staying hydrated. Drink A LOT of water all day long!
4. Drink green tea.
Between lunch and dinner, have a cup of green tea. Brewed green tea or matcha will do. Green tea is great for dealing with bloat, great for your metabolism, and keeps your energy up.
5. Take a detoxing bath.
On the last day of your 5-days to fit, take a nice relaxing, detoxing bath. By some Epsom salts or a bath bomb that contains sea salt. The salts will relax you and draw out extra water, leaving you looking extra lean!
